I was involved in David’s Outcome Based Accountability (OBA) 2 day course. From what was expected to be a very complex matter upon building strategies to influence outcomes across a broad population, David managed to make the journey simple, straightforward and practical, turning talk into action. I’d advocate businesses adopting OBA and suggest that  people should make contact with David to find out more.

Update on OBA in Leeds

One of the most enthusiastic exponents of OBA™ in the UK is Leeds City Council who has used the framework to great effect in its Children’s Services Department.  Under the leadership of Director Nigel Richardson, the department has focussed on three indicators (known as ‘Nigel’s Obsessions’) in the knowledge that if these can be improved, other indicators will follow. He has also developed what he calls his “Thing of Beauty” which is a simple, regularly updated graph showing progress on each of the key indicators. I have posted a case study of progress to date which you can find under the Resources section (Publications and Case Studies).  It makes for interesting reading and demonstrates how the values of OBA (Simple, common sense, plain language, minimum paper, and useful) are making a difference in Leeds.
